Simple, Delicious Crawfish Etoufee
Tired of eating the same ole thing every night for dinner? Why not spice it up with a little Cajun cooking?
I am about to give you an extremely simple and quick recipe for a delicious meal that is sure to be a hit in any home!
Ingredients
This is the recipe I use to cook for my husband and myself. You can cook more by just doubling, tripling, etc. all ingredients! (I normally have enough for us to each eat a couple times, but believe me, you ARE going to want seconds!)
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 small onion
- 1/2 bellpepper (optional)
- 1 pound crawfish tails
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 small can of tomato sauce
- Tony Chachere's seasoning (or your own seasoning... salt, pepper, etc.)
- 2 cups white rice
*In Louisiana, you can find crawfish tails at most grocery stores. I am currently in Georgia and have been most successful with Walmart. I usually find Boudreaux's Crawfish Tail Meat in the freezers next to the shrimp and fish!
How to Cook It!
Before starting, you might want to put your rice cooking. I use a rice cooker, but you can do this however you normally cook rice! You will not need the rice until it is time to eat, so you can cook the rice and etoufee at the same time!
THE SIMPLE STEPS TO DELICIOUS CRAWFISH ETOUFEE
- Before you start, chop your onion and bellpepper (if you choose to use it) into very small pieces.
- Melt your stick of butter in a pot that is big enough for all ingredients.
- Once butter is melted, add in the onions and bellpepper.
- Cook this down on medium-high until the onions become clear. You don't the onions to be crunchy and obvious!
- After your onions are clear and soft, add in the crawfish tail meat. This can be pre-seasoned or you can season as you go. I normally use Tony Chachere's seaasoning, but you can definitely use salt, pepper, garlic powder, etc. However you would like to season it!
- Cook your tail meat still on medium-high for about 5-10 minutes, stirring it around the whole time. You are really only heating the crawfish and mixing them in the onions for flavor... it's already fully cooked in the package!
- Next, Pour in your can of cream of mushroom and can of tomato sauce and stir everything together.
- Now, lower your heat to low-medium and let it cook for about 20 minutes.
- Now for serving! Decide how much rice you would like, then top it off with your Crawfish mixture that you have just made. I like to mix the rice and etoufee together and add more etoufee until you cannot tell that the rice is white, but amounts are totally up to you!
- Last, but definitely not least, ENJOY YOUR DELICIOUS CAJUN DISH!
Comments
